About The Characters

The characters in Murder In The French Quarter have been divided into eight featured characters and eight supporting characters. You can play the game with anywhere between 8 and 16 people, however, you MUST have a minimum of eight people to play the game properly. The minimum number of eight people must all play a FEATURED character in order for the game to function properly. Just because some people are featured and some are supporting, EVERYONE can still participate in the investigation, can interrogate any other character, review clues and play along to solve the mystery! Each character will also be able to make their own accusation at the end of the game.

FEATURED CHARACTERS (EIGHT PEOPLE) These 8 characters have in depth backstory, motivation and relationships with the other featured characters. These featured characters are given a “Character Menu” which contains information that they share and keep private in each round of game play. Featured characters also come with a name tag and character description. There are three male, three female and two "any gender" featured characters to assign. These characters should be played by people who are strong readers, who are able to share and communicate well, who are outgoing, talkative, and inquisitive. In short, these characters should be assigned to people who can interpret information/backstory quickly, unafraid to "jump in" and ask questions and who are good at puzzles.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS (EIGHT PEOPLE) These 8 characters are given character descriptions, unique insights and detailed costume and prop suggestions. However, these characters do not receive character menus with information that they keep private or divulge throughout the game. There are three male, three female and two "any gender" supporting characters to assign. They also come with a name tag and character description. These are your guests who might be a little more overwhelmed, timid or shy about the process but still 100% excited to participate in their own way. Or, these characters are perfect for your guests who can't 100% commit to your party. Since you already have your eight featured characters confirmed, supporting characters can be added at will. You can have any number of supporting character in any combination in addition to the eight featured characters. Supporting characters receive a character description, they investigate and play along, are given a name tag and accusation sheet but are not given a character menu.

How many people can play? You can have between 8-16 players. You need a minimum of eight people to play the game. The minimum eight must be assigned from the "featured characters." You can then assign an additional 0 to 8 supporting characters, so between 8-16 people total can play the game.
